Simple birthday party game ideas to make every kid a winner

There are many birthday party games that can be adapted to almost any party theme. Consider customizing races, relays, bean bag toss, sand digs, duck-duck-goose, bingo, treasure huts, pin the tail on the donkey, Simon says, bowling and other common games to match the theme of the party. For example, popular birthday party games like duck-duck-goose becomes cow-cow-horse for a Wild West theme. Simon says becomes Cinderella says for a princess party. Pin the tail on the T-Rex instead of a donkey for a dinosaur party.

Birthday Party Games

Choose birthday party games that allow everyone to feel like a winner. Avoid games like musical chairs that will leave a child 'out' and feel like a loser. If you do play such games, a good idea is to get the child who is 'out' to help play judge or act as a cheerleader. This keeps them involved in the game and prevents them from getting bored.

How to Conduct Party Games

Some of your guests may have very different skill levels. Be ready to help children be successful at a particular game. A child who has difficulty reading may need help with the clues in a treasure hunt. A child who is a bit awkward physically may need extra encouragement on an obstacle course. If a child really doesn't want to participate in a game, allow him to watch or help with the game or play at the Activity Center.

Game prizes can be simple items like small candy or chocolate bar, stickers, or glow sticks. Each child receives an empty loot bag already labeled with his/her name and proceeds to fill it with rewards from each game. Look out for the weaker children; change the rules so that they win some of the prizes ('slowest' wins this round). This helps to ensure an even spread of the prizes among the children and avoid anyone feeling like a 'loser'.
